Group Discounts
To book a group of 20 or more on one of our regularly scheduled runs, please call the reservation office at (512) 477-8468 (extension 10) and make a reservation. You will receive a 10% discount for groups of 20 or more. A 25% deposit is required at the time a reservation is made. The remaining balance is due 10 business days prior to departure. This offer is good on the Hill Country Flyer and Bertram Flyer train rides. Group reservations are subject to a 10 business day refund policy. In order to receive a refund you must cancel your tickets at least 10 business days prior to your scheduled trip.
Charter A Car
When chartering a car on one of our regularly scheduled runs, there are a few things to keep in mind. First, we have four different types of passenger cars — standard coach, excursion coach, first class coach & first class lounge. The coach cars are not climate-controlled but do have windows that open and close. They have a capacity of 72. The lounge cars are climate-controlled and have a capacity of 32 to 38, depending on the car.
Available exclusively for Charter is the Santa Fe Caboose, built in 1930, numbered 999418. Visible at the rear of trains all across the Santa Fe system, this caboose was retired in 1985 and purchased by Bert Dockall of Rockdale, TX. Since the first days of the Austin & Texas Central Railroad, it has been leased to the Austin Steam Train Association by Eagle Rail Services. The Caboose is isolated from the rest of the train and is heated, but not air conditioned.

When chartering a car, you are allowed to bring outside food on board and may use any caterer of your choice, however, the caterer must perform a site inspection prior to the run. If you wish to provide alcoholic beverage service, you must select a caterer that is licensed to serve alcohol.
If you are interested in providing special entertainment in your chartered car, we recommend you contact Capital City Mystery Players. They are very experienced in performing on board our train, so they best understand its unique environment and operations.
Charter The Train
To charter the train at a time when we are not already scheduled to run, please call (512) 477-8468 (extension 13) to check on availability. To make a reservation, a 25% deposit is required at the time when the reservation is made and the remaining balance is due 10 business days prior to departure. The same rules apply as chartering a single car: You may use any caterer of your choice, however, the caterer must perform a site inspection prior to the run. If you wish to provide alcoholic beverage service, you must select a caterer that is licensed to serve alcohol.
