How Do We Ride The Train?
Purchase tickets online, over the phone or at our ticket office in Cedar Park. Our ticket office hours are M-F from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. The ticket office is also open one and a half hours before each train departure. During this time, passengers with reservations may pick up their tickets and walk up passengers may purchase tickets, if seats on that day's train are still available. What Is The Difference Between
Coach & Lounge?
Both the standard coach, excursion coach and first-class coach cars have a center-aisle with double seats on each side of the aisle. The coach cars have no A/C or heat but do have windows that open and close. The excursion coach and first-class coach cars do have A/C and heat. The first-class coach (the Silver Pine) is considered a first-class car as it has limited seating (44 passengers total), both a men's and women's restroom in the car and complimentary snacks (chips, cookies, etc.), fresh fruit and bottled water.
The lounge cars have a combination of seating options, either in the open lounge area (tables and chairs or individual chairs) or in a private compartment. Private compartments must be booked through a ticket agent at 512/477-8468. The lounge cars have A/C, heat, and complimentary light snacks, fresh fruit and a wide variety of complimentary beverages, including coffee, sodas and juice..

Is There Wheelchair Access?
ASTA welcomes all passengers, including passengers with disabilities, and attempts to provide accommodations for all of its passengers. ASTA operates historic railroad equipment and the construction of the equipment limits accessibility. A wheelchair lift is available that can accommodate most wheelchairs and motorized chairs and lift these chairs and occupants from the boarding platform to the entry doors for the railroad cars. Entry doors maximum width is 27".
Limited wheelchair space is available on board. Please inform ASTA in advance of any special needs for a passenger and ASTA will attempt to make accommodations.
Is the Train Child Friendly?
Yes! Children of all ages are welcome on board the train. We do a few adults only events where alcohol is served - murder mysteries, wine tastings - but the rest of the routes are great for all ages. Children ages 3 to 13 need a child ticket to ride. Children under the age of 3 don't need a ticket - they just ride in your lap, If you want a seat for a child under the age of 3, just purchase a child ticket for them. North Pole Flyer tickets are one price for all passengers aged 3 and older.
Do You Assign Seats?
Yes. Once you purchase your tickets online, our ticket agent will assign you the best available seats in your car.
Do We Need A Reservation?
Seats that have not been reserved in advance are sold at the station 90 minutes before train departure. Typically the climate controlled cars are sold out before the day of the trip. Reservations are recommended.
Can We Bring Food With Us?
Yes, you are welcome to bring snacks and beverages on board the train. Please keep in mind that space is limited so a small personal cooler works best. Food MAY NOT be brought on any train where ASTA provides a meal (Murder Mystery, Twilight Flyers, etc.) unless the food is for a non fare paying child under the age of 3. Please do not bring cakes or any items that need to be cut or sliced on board – cup cakes for birthday parties are fine. Alcoholic beverages may not be brought on the train. The Concession Car also sells cold sodas, hot coffee and snacks such as chips, cookies and candy.
Does The Train Run On Time?
We make every effort to depart and return on time, however delays are possible due to railroad traffic.
