ASTA is committed to implementing Positive Train Control (PTC) carefully and systematically to heighten safety for our passengers, staff, and volunteer crew.

We need your financial support today to help us complete this priority project within the designated timeline. This year, we are maximizing our fundraising efforts to secure at least 25% of the $400,000 projected expense to install the PTC equipment. In the following year, we will continue to prioritize fundraising to complete this important safety initiative.

With over 50,000 people climbing aboard the train every year, we are entrusted with some of the most memorable moments of people’s lives! Every birthday party, engagement, first train ride, wedding, and anniversary is an opportunity for us to make their world a little brighter. We are tremendously lucky to be able to be a part of these magical moments, but first and foremost the number one priority is the safety of our passengers, volunteer crew, and staff.

With this federally mandated system in place, it will allow ASTA’s locomotive to receive critical information from the train control center in real-time, which is designed to keep us safer by preventing train-to-train collisions and overspeed derailments—two of the major causes of train accidents in the United States.
