Beyond running excursions, ASTA’s volunteers can often be found representing us at regional train shows. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters, who donate all manner of railroad memorabilia, we’re able to showcase unique items from our collection—some destined for use on our trains or in our museum displays, others offered for sale to directly support restoration projects like the ongoing work on ALCO 442.

These events have been a success on many fronts. They reconnect us with former volunteers, spread awareness of ASTA’s mission, and introduce new audiences to the fact that Central Texas is home to a seriously fun excursion railroad in the Hill Country.

You can find our volunteers and their displays at the CentraMOD show in Temple each fall, as well as the New Braunfels Train Show every spring and fall. If you’re in the area, we encourage you to stop by—you’ll discover one-of-a-kind memorabilia and some excellent model train action, all while supporting ASTA’s preservation work.

We wouldn’t be able to operate our historic railroading museum without the support of our community. As a donor-supported, volunteer-led nonprofit, the Austin Steam Train Association is truly a community effort—and everything we do is made possible by friends like you.
